Interim Principal & Middle School Language Arts Teacher

“There is a direct relationship between student excitement of education and the teacher’s excitement in teaching.  A teacher must love what he teaches and be excited about what he learns along the way in order for students to buy into the learning opportunities.”

This philosophy of education guides the work Steve Moeller does as he teaches Language Arts to the seventh and eighth graders and religion to the sixth grade.  This is his fourth year at St. John’s and his third year as interim principal.

He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Concordia University Chicago and brings more than four decades of ministry experience to his present responsibilities.  He has been a Director of Christian Education and has served as a middle school teacher, instructing students in religion, language arts, physical education, computer education, and history.  He has also taught physical education and computer education in the primary and intermediate grades.

Mr. Moeller has been involved with student athletics for his entire teaching career as both a coach and as an athletic director.  He currently serves on the board of directors of the Lutheran Sports Association of Illinois, which is a group that organizes state championship tournaments for Lutheran elementary schools.
