3rd Grade Language Arts Teacher, Upper Grades Teacher & Athletic Director

"Every child is a unique gift from God, and it is important that children learn to view the world through the eyes of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Lutheran education helps children see and appreciate what their God has done for them and how He is active in their faith, their learning, and their daily lives. It equips them for the future as they serve others and show compassion for one another."

This is the philosophy of Kim Bimler who graduated from Concordia University in River Forest, IL with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majors in education, language arts, and physical education. She is the athletic director at St. John’s and has been teaching for more than 25 years.

Mrs. Bimler is looking forward this year to once again teaching middle school for part of the day while still keeping contact with the third graders in the afternoon for Language Arts. She enjoys using creativity to further her students’ interest in learning by getting them involved in many fun projects throughout the year. In the past, the third graders have attended plays that go along with the books they've read, and one of her class projects was even published in a Linda Hoyt language arts book.

For Mrs. Bimler, the teachers at St. John’s Lutheran School have been the true motivators in her life. She credits the great role models she had when she was a student as the reason for becoming a teacher. She also had the privilege of teaching with her mother, now retired from St. John’s, for the last seven years of her mother’s career. Her son attended St. John’s as well. “This school is full of caring, loving, and Christ-Centered teachers that proclaim their love of God each and every day. Academics here are very strong and children are held to high expectations. We want to see each child succeed in the best way.”
