Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate in Science Olympics. The Science Olympics competition is a one day event hosted by Concordia University Chicago with several hundred students from area Lutheran elementary schools. To prepare for competition, students are paired together and practice under the coaching of either faculty members or parent volunteers. Each participant practices for two scientific events over a series of several weeks before the competition. Students benefit by gaining new experiences, applying critical thinking skills, and improving interpersonal skills.
